It was hot. So hot. Who's idea was it to practice outside today? Oh right, mine. When we had met up for practice as usual in the nice, air-conditioned gym, one of the girls had mentioned that the football team would be out using the football field today. "It's so nice outside," I said, "we should practice outside so we can watch them," I said. Honestly, I had wanted to stay in, but the approving nods and smiles from the other girls had me standing by my words. They looked pleadingly at our captain, Kayliegh, the queen bee and my personal idol. She put it to a vote; I secretly hoped my vote would lose, but here we were. Queen Kayliegh had us practice behind the bleachers 'so we wouldn't be distracted' but frequent water breaks meant a lot of sneaking around to gawk. It wasn't so bad, but our new uniforms really added insult to injury. The usual uniform was red and white, a long sleeves short and skirt. The new ones were blue, with diamond shaped openings in the back, no sleeves, and slits in the south up both thighs.
