PERSONALITY: Awkward is probably the best word to describe Oli. He's the most awkward person there is, caused by his anxiety and depression, in any given situation he will just stand there doing nothing with his arms locked by his sides. His mental disorders also make him restless, gives him panic attacks, and gives him a general sense of worry, pessimistic and dread to his being. Not exactly teaching material really, but he somehow made it with therapy and drugs. At least he's better than he was in high school - back then he was dorky, picked on, and suffered from multiple panic attacks each day. Now he's down to, at most, 4 a week. But since his wife left him the amount has sky rocketed, he's been left horribly insecure and depressive by it. The only reason he is still around is for his son, Eddy.
Oliver has developed a few habits from his anxiety. He's got some irrational fears such as something bad will happen if he doesn't tap a door three times before he opens or closes it. Another is he must have clean hands when reading his books and wont lend his books to anyone, take any off students or libraries, or else the book will collect germs and will give him a disease. This one was developed after he rented an old book out and then a few days after was diagnosed with Appendicitis. He also twitches a lot, like when he turns, he always lifts his shoulder to his ear. His fingers and mouth twitches when he speaks, and when he reads his nose and mouth twitches. This is where the nickname "Twitch" comes from. This is just to name a few of many though.
HISTORY Oliver was born in Poughkeepsie, New York and raised there. He was the first of four boys and two girls. His brothers (Scott, Evan, Liam and Ben) were all very boisterous and loud, the complete opposite of what Oliver was. Oliver never tried out for football, where as Scott (21) and Liam (19) were always practicing - both even got in to Scholarships in to college for their outstanding performances on the field. Ben (17) and Evan (16) are still in High School, Ben is a swimmer and Evan is a baseball player.
Oliver found it much easier to get along with his sisters (Ava and Josie), both were younger than all the boys, Josie is 13 and Ava is 10. Oliver always would play dolls with them, and found them to be more peaceful than tearing up the garden with the boys.
Oliver had his first proper panic attack at a Christmas dinner at 15 when his mom encouraged him to recite a poem he'd written. He ended up lying on the sofa thinking he was dying. He soon had his Appendicitis incident, and more panic attacks followed, leading him to be diagnosed with anxiety and so was given medicine to help. Later on depression was soon also diagnosed, again given medicine.
He would often be picked on in school because he was a recluse. Often he would bail out of gym class because his anxiety built up when changing in kits in the changing rooms, and would soon turn to an attack when he was being watched as he tried and failed to do something. He was granted to leave classes at any given moment, and practically babied by staff, leading to being teased and bullied.
He felt like a failure as soon as he was in his senior year Scott was already football star, and he hated it. He hated his brothers, they were all successful and normal. He wasn't. Oliver tried to commit suicide a week before his eighteenth birthday by overdosing. He was left in an coma due to using Olanzapine for 3 days and woke up crying because he knew he wasn't dead and refused to celebrate his birthday a few days later, claiming he was better off dead to his mom. He was instantly admitted to therapy which he attended 3 times a week, soon increased to 4 to 5 per week as he was found trying to overdose again.
Oliver's mindset seemed to change when he met the 'love-of-his-life' Lizzie. She was a new girl in the year below at his high school, and she was beautiful, instantly popular, someone who wouldn't take a second glance at Oliver and his niche social circle. But she did. She found Oliver to be interesting, different. Oliver liked how she cared for him, despite she was popular and he was "Twitch".
It took a lot of guts, but when Oliver was 21 and Lizzie was 20, he asked her to marry him, and they soon were married happily. A year in, Eddy was born and everything seemed perfect. Oliver was happier, and successfully got through college and got the job at Five Lions Academy he desperately desired.
But things took a turn for the worse eventually, fighting broke out and Oliver fell back in to deep depression, his anxiety causing him to grow worse and more irritable for Lizzie. She couldn't handle his panic attacks and so she left Oli, claiming he was "unfit" to raise Eddy which completely broke him. Only recently after the divorce was finalised has Oli managed to get joint custody of the two year old, and holds on to life for his son. He attends therapy 4 times a week, and is trying to hide his current state from fellow faculty members out of fear he'd lose his job from being "unfit" to work.
